The Hook peninsula is graced by the ancient Hook Lighthouse and interpretive centre. Regular guided tours of the lighthouse are available. The nearby shop and restaurant are open all year.

The Saltee Islands lie 12 miles east and are the subject of tantalising folklore of pirates and princes as well as being one of Irelands most important seabird sancturies for gannet, puffin, razorbill, guillemot, cormorant,terns and gulls.
